Have you ever wondered if you might be the only Vineyard seminarian in your area? in your region? in the world!?
Seminary raises all kinds of questions: about the nature of God, the authority of scripture, the relationship between theology and practice… These questions are important; the fact that they are challenging and at times unsettling is by design. But, in the middle of wrestling with these questions, so often we find ourselves wanting a conversation with someone on the journey with us, someone who can help us connect the questions we're asking with the experiences of God we've had in worship, in prayer, and in community.
Friends and colleagues from other denominations and movements can be really helpful in this process; we learn so much from the diversity and breadth of the Body of Christ.
But, as a Vineyard seminarian, sometimes it feels like the only perspective available is from outside the Vineyard. Wouldn't it be great to gather with folks who share our Vineyard values and are going through this crazy thing called seminary as well?
That's what the Vineyard Seminarians Summit is all about.
We'll engage with provocative teaching from world-class scholars, considering together how to integrate what we're learning in class with what we've experienced of God. We'll be challenged and equipped for spiritual formation for the long haul—whether our vocation is in "parish ministry," missions, church-planting, scholarship, or beyond. And we'll be the Vineyard together: we'll pray for one another, we'll worship, we'll wait on God to hear God's voice.
Want in? The Summit is open to any current or recent seminary or divinity school student in the Vineyard—including folks doing seminary work distance or online. We especially value and encourage the participation of women and non-white men, voices which have historically been under-represented in theological dialogues to the detriment of the conversation in general.
The application deadline has passed, but there still may be some room available. Still interested? Apply online or drop us an email at info@vineyardseminarians.org.
In the meantime, join us on Facebook; help us get this generation of future Vineyard leaders connected.
